Recitals, Programs, & Workshops

While taking music lessons with us here at Riverbend Strings, you have the opportunity to participate in our biannual studio recitals to share your hard work with friends and family, and have the chance to experience performance on stage. On occasion, we also offer workshops dedicated to helping you improve your skillset.

Riverbend Strings also has a growing orchestra, consisting of members of multiple skill levels and instruments. We meet regularly for rehearsals, perform in studio recitals as well as occasionally in the community for other performance opportunities. Anyone is welcome to stop in for a trial practice.

Music Recitals

Every year, Riverbend Strings puts on two studio recitals – one in the spring, and one in December just before the holidays. We expect every student to participate unless they discuss it with their teacher in advance otherwise. Our studio recitals are a low-pressure opportunity for students to share their hard work and practice with their friends and family. The stakes are low and the reward is high. Students of all levels perform, and the program is designed to lessen anxiety as much as possible and set the students up for the best possible outcome. We’ve never had a student regret taking part, as it always feels like a tremendous accomplishment worth celebrating.

Riverbend Orchestra

The Riverbend orchestra is an all-ages and multi-skill-level ensemble that meets weekly to learn music together. Music is typically chosen based on a standard western classical music approach, but we also try to incorporate interests of our members and will take on new challenges if the group feels motivated to try. Instrumentation is mostly suited to violin, viola, cello, and bass, but we have room for piano, percussion, winds, guitar, etc. You name it and we will figure out how to include you!

This is a learning orchestra so time is also spent on learning fundamentals of reading music, music theory, ensemble etiquette, and how to listen and play as a group versus as individuals. If you are looking for an advanced opportunity, we are looking at forming a higher-level branch of the orchestra as well, so please don’t hesitate to reach out for more information about our ensemble.

Music Workshops

Occasionally we will have unique opportunities at Riverbend Strings and will offer workshops or special performance opportunities. We typically announce these things on our social media page, or in person with our students. We offer things like a rock and roll mini-camp, a senior’s care home holiday outreach concert, instrument care workshops, early music (young children’s) sessions, themed birthday parties, and more. If you have an idea or a request for something in particular, feel free to contact us and let us know.
